Does God care about us?

Roger surrenders to reason: God exists. But one question remains for him — the one that opens the door to the entire second part of this path.

— You are right, my friend! God exists. I have no further arguments that could deny His existence. Do you think God cares about us?

Tom breaks into a smile and says: — Just as you and I want the best for our children, and we are imperfect, how much more must God want for us?

Roger, thoughtful, says: — But Tom, that is an emotional argument. How can you prove by reason that God cares about His creatures?

— By the same reasoning we have used so far. We have already concluded that the primary cause is intelligent and that it produced laws with extraordinary precision — the fine-tuning of the universe we spoke of. Now, an intelligence that calibrates with such precision the conditions for life to exist does not do so out of indifference. Indifference does not build so carefully tended a house for a guest it despises. But there is an even more solid answer, Roger, and it requires that we first come to know the very nature of God — His attributes. When we do, you will see that God's care for His creatures is not a wish nor a hope, but a necessary consequence of what God cannot fail to be. Let us leave that conversation for our next meeting.
