Do angels and demons exist?

Two figures run through all traditions. Tom explains what each really is — and why one of them cannot exist at all.

— What are angels?

— Angels are more evolved spirits. It could not be otherwise. If God created angels different from spirits, He would be being unjust, because spirits would only progress through their own effort, while angels would have nothing to endure. That idea annuls the principle of God's supreme justice and goodness.

— Yes, it makes complete sense that it should be so. And demons, devils, what are they?

— There are no beings eternally turned towards evil; they are merely a figure representing wickedness. If spirits continually perfect themselves, there is no room left for the existence of demons, of devils, or of any other name one might wish to give them.

— Yes, reincarnation makes all spirits good.

— Yes, there is no escaping evolution. Sooner or later, spirits become pure.
